Santa Clara University Life Long Network

The Santa Clara University Life Long Network (SCU LLN) connects over 1,500 people, mostly SCU MBA alumni and students. The focus of the group is to enable alumni and students to share non-academic information with each other. It is an unofficial network that is moderated by SCU MBA alumni. There are two components to the network:

  1. The SCU LLN Yahoo! Group enables alumni and students to share information with each other. To join, go to the SCU LLN Yahoo! Group home page and click “Join This Group!” in the upper right corner of the page.

  1. The SCU LLN LinkedIn Group enables alumni and students to find each other’s professional profiles and contact each other directly using the premiere online professional network, LinkedIn.
    • To join, first join the SCU LLN Yahoo! Group.
    • Once you’re a member of the Yahoo! Group, go to the SCU LLN Yahoo! Group home page and click the LinkedIn logo in the middle of the page to open a new email message.
    • Fill in the email message, then send the email request.

Special Interest Yahoo! Groups

In addition to the SCU Life Long Network and Santa Clara MBA Yahoo! Groups mentioned above, there are a number of Yahoo! Groups for special interests which have SCU MBA and MSIS students and alumni actively engaged.

Depending upon how a Yahoo! Group administrator has configured a particular group, you may also be able share hyperlinks, digital photographs, files, and more with fellow group members via the group’s website.

Here are many of the Yahoo! Groups related to the SCU MBA and MSIS programs of which I am aware:

  • Finance Connection - SCU – You don’t have to be a member of the Finance Connexion network to join.  Note that this group has a lot of good information in their database, including course evaluations, people seeking capstone project teammates, and book buying and selling classifieds.
  • MBA Consulting Group of Santa Clara University – “Membership is open to all students and alumni of the MBA program at Santa Clara University. Almost all emails that members (subscribers) will receive through this group's mailing list will concern projects that the group is taking on. Those who wish to participate in these projects should definitely sign up! This is not a high-traffic mailing list.”
  • Santa Clara MBA Alumni Social Club
  • SCU Biotech – “To foster discussion and networking among past and present SCU MBA students interested in learning more about the biotechnology industry.”

  • Women in Business - SCU – You don’t have to be a member of the Women In Business network—or even be a woman—to join.  This group has a lot of good information in their database, including professor and class comments, book buying and selling classifieds, and information about waiver exams.

Classmate
Directories

There are a number of Internet sites which provide a means for former classmates to keep in contact with each other. If you’re looking to reconnect with a particular classmate that you can’t find using LinkedIn or inCircle, you may find the following sites useful:

  • Classmates – Note that you may sign up for two schools:
    1. Santa Clara University
    2. Santa Clara University – Business”
  • Alumni.net– This site is free, but you’ll need to navigate a number of annoying pop-up windows.

Invitations to the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society are offered to the top business students in AACSB accredited programs. The Beta Gamma Sigma San Francisco Area Alumni Chapter sponsors both a LinkedIn Group and a Yahoo! Group for members of its chapter. These groups enable members to connect with over 100 fellow members who are alumni of such Bay Area schools as Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and Santa Clara University.
